World of Wine Festival Celebrates 10 Years with Exciting Changes

For nine years the World of Wine Festival has brought together the wines and winemakers of Southern Oregon under one big tent to showcase the best of the region. In their tenth year, the festival will continue to do just that, but will also add a Friday evening GoldRush Dinner featuring the Gold Medal winning wines from the wine competition and wine education seminars leading up to the Grand Tasting of over 100 Southern Oregon wines.

Taking place at the Bigham Knoll Campus, the festival made the move from Del Rio Vineyards last year and has enjoyed its home in historic Jacksonville. Jacksonville is home to Oregon's first winery and is a gateway to the wine region's 60+ wineries. The town offers close lodging and dining accommodations for guests.

Schedule of Events:

Wednesday, August 22nd - Welcome Cocktail Reception, location TBA
Thursday, August 23rd  at 9:30 am - Wine Sensory Class: History of Southern Oregon Wine
Thursday, August 23rd at 1:00 pm - Wine Sensory Class: Tasting & Evaluating Wines
Friday, August 24th at 9:30 am - Wine Sensory Class: Climates of Southern Oregon
Friday, August 24th at 1:00 pm - Wine Sensory Class: Southern Oregon vs. Old World
Friday, August 24th, GoldRush Dinner, catered by Jacksonville Inn, featuring Gold Medal Wine Winners
Saturday, August 25th - Grand Tasting in the Big Tent at Bigham Knoll

In addition to the public events, the festival hosts a wine competition with a panel of experienced judges, who come from all over the country to evaluate the Southern Oregon wines. This year's judges include Traci Dutton, who serves as the Sommelier in the Wine Spectator Greystone Restaurant at the Culinary Institute of America, Sheri Sauter Morano, MW, a wine expert from North Carolina and Dr. Liz Thach, MW, a management and wine business professor at Sonoma State University. Medalists will be announced one week prior to start of the festival.
